HRH Prince Moulay Rachid unleashes the Petanque era in Morocco


Rabat, April 29,2007 - Under the Royal Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco, the Stade Marocain (SM) club organized the 1st Petanque World Championship on 28-29 April in Rabat.

His Royal Highness' efforts toward continual evolution of modern society, steering the prince's tremendous enthusiasm for sports into undoubtedly the most important and thrilling event in the Moroccan Petanque life so far.

His Royal Highness, instrumental in creating and supporting several national and international programs, campaigns to push for the versatility, the growing interest and the improvement of individual performances to boost the stature of athletics and sporting events.

His Royal Highness active concern ensures that the Championship has brought the highest prize of the tournament, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid Award.

His Royal Highness’ reward by lending his support to the petanque initiative inspires to boost the statute of the 1st Petanque World Championship in Morocco and to reflect proudly on Morocco’s Petanque three world championship titles (1984, 1987, 1990) as its vital part of history.

How very exciting to see that HRH has a blog. And in English! I just love that! It's such a fresh and modern initiative. And it is so very nice to see what HRH is up to.

I love petanque, too.

PS I don't know if HRH is interested but my blog was a finalist in the 2007 Annual Weblog Awards for Best African and Middle Eastern blog. It was the only Morocco-based finalist. I have well over one thousand page loads daily and from more than 60 countries. I like to think of my blog as my own little attempts at friendly diplomacy -- sharing Morocco with the rest of the world.:-)
