HRH Prince Moulay Rachid widens the virtues of scouting

Rabat, April 29 2007 - Under the Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Moroccan National Federation of Scouting organized on April 27-29 2007, a National forum on Communication.
Growing up, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid was an active Boy Scout and in April 1997 he was named the President of the Moroccan National Federation of Scouting.

His Royal Highness’ active involvement has encouraged and supported Moroccan and international youth to participate in regional and international scouting events.

With a long history of advocating for the rights of girls and boys, His Royal Highness outlines new methods of education for the young people with the concept of scouting as a school of good citizenship.

The National Forum on Communication entitles “Only one world, only one currency”, aims to deepen the awareness of the federation’s objective, its strong role in development in Morocco, fight against illiteracy, help to vulnerable citizens or service of patriotism.

I grew up as a girl scout and it was very formative.

On a related point, I would love to see Moroccan schools do more to promote the notion of public service. In many schools across America, community service is required to graduate. This encourages a spirit of volunteerism for the rest of one's life and builds community spirit and pride as young people see what they can do with their own hands to help.
