HRH Prince Moulay Rachid commemorates 8th anniversary of death of his father

Rabat, April 27, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the heir to the Moroccan throne, visited the late King Hassan II's tomb in the Mohammed V mausoleum to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the passing away of the late King Hassan II.

His Royal Highness recited verses from the Holy Koran to pay tribute to the memory of his father.

His Majesty Hassan II, the Moroccan monarch who set tone for modern monarchy, passed away on 23 July 1999 corresponding to 9th of Rabie II lunar month 1420, which coincides to 27 April 2007, will always be remembered for his moderation and genuine desire to advance his nation.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid proffers retrospective of Roberto Rossellini


Marrakech-Morocco, Feb. 17-19, 2007 – Under the directions of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Foundation of Marrakech International Film Festival presented the first comprehensive Moroccan retrospective of the work of master filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, on the anniversary of the centenary of his birth.

His Royal Highness, who has voiced to further diversify foundation’s activities in order to ensure sustainable cultural and economic development, opened up to experience the revival of cinematography for cultural industry enlargement.

With the collaboration of the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute, Association Maiori Film Festival and Centre Cinématographique Marocain (C.C.M.), the retrospective featured Rossellini's ground-breaking films and works from his career for film and television.

Roberto Rossellini (1906–1977) was a seminal artist of the art of film, who pioneered the highly influential neo-realist movement that put Italian cinema on the map in the years following World War II. His classic films of that period, ROME OPEN CITY (1945), PAISAN (1946) and GERMANY YEAR ZERO (1947) are inestimable classics that continue to enthrall audiences worldwide.
