HRH Prince Moulay Rachid unveils highlights of the Friendship Meeting 2008

Rabat, November 9, 2007 – After the success of the previous three events, 2008 is a great year to continue this exciting event, the Friendship Meeting of young scouts.

Scout youth project aims to teach a variety of youth groups from all walks of life and backgrounds and to enhance the contribution of youth empowerment.

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of Moroccan Scout Organization, believes that for any society to be successful it must recognize that youth are just as important as all other members of society.

Rabat-Morocco, November 7th, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid in the framework of implementation of the National Development of Junior Golf, officially opened this year golf season on November 7th, 2007.

This year junior golf season will be driven forward by opening the pathway through schools and academies that will focus primarily on developing golf for children in their areas.
The Dar Essalam Royal Golf Academy, the first of its kind launched by His Royal Highness in 2004 with the aim to help underprivileged children discover life’s lessons through golf, will open its gates on November 27th, 2007.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid shines spotlight on Humanitarian Crisis as UN celebrates its birthday

Rabat, Morocco, October 24, 2007 - Known for his compassionate nature and many philanthropic efforts, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid took under his wings and denoted the protection of the 62nd United Nations (UN) Day as a part of his humanitarian efforts.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid empowers the North African cinema

Marrakech-Morocco, October 17, 2007 – As part of outreach and awareness programs to empower cinematography, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of Marrakech International Film Festival, announced that the Marrakech International Film Festival (MIFF) will pay a special tribute to Egyptian cinema at its 7th edition, which will be held from December 7 to 15, 2007.

This year edition will see the screening of 40 major Egyptian films, recalling the various stages of cinema in this country, as a vehicle for His Royal Highness’ action plan, to endeavor breathe new life into North African cinematography.

For part of preparations for the festival, under the directions of His Royal Highness, Noureddine Eddine Saïl Vice president of the Foundation of MIFF, has just completed a two-day visit to Cairo.

During his visit to Egypt, Mr. Eddine Saïl held several meetings including with Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni, the executive director of the National Center of Cinema, Chadi Abou Ali and several film industry professionals in Egypt.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid officiates reorganization of MIFF Foundation

Marrakech-Morocco, October 14, 2007 -- His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, Founder and President of Marrakech International Film Festival (MIFF) Foundation, has announced that the foundation will get new headquarters, which is already under the construction.

The announcement made within the framework of foundation’s pilot projects, the aim of the reorganization is to maximize its principles, while ensuring sustained improvement in order to meet foundations goals.

The Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation was established in 2001 by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid and was endowed with the presidency of His Royal Highness. The Foundation is not-for–profit organization and was incorporated due to lack of opportunities for creative talents in cinematography.

The Foundation is distinguished for hosting the most renowned annual Marrakech International Film Festival.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid reflects on holy month Ramadan
Rabat, October 13, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, the festival that follows the holy month of fasting and marking the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, visited the mosque.

Eid is an Arabic term meaning “festivity” or “celebration” while Fitr means, “to break the fast” and can also mean “nature,” from the word “fitrat.”

Common greetings in Arabic-speaking countries and communities around the world during this holiday are “Eid mubarak” (blessed Eid) or “Eid sa’id” (happy Eid). In addition, many countries have their own greetings based on local language and traditions.

On this day of festivity, His Royal Highness performed the Eid prayer. This consists of a sermon followed by a congregational prayer.

During the time of Ramadan, His Royal Highness chaired several religious lectures concerning several issues that are examined from Islamic point of view.

His Royal Highness also visited Saudi Arabia where he visited Prophet’s Mosque and performed Umrah (Minor Pilgrimage).

The month of Ramadan, the most blessed of the 12 months in the Islamic calendar is the Muslim month of fasting, prayer, Quran readings and acts of charity.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid takes some time to meditate in Medina

Saudi Arabia, October 7, 2007 -- His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, heir to the throne of Morocco, arrived in Medina Sunday within his current state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Umra (minor Hajj) in Mecca and to visit the Prophet's mosque in Medina.

Escorted by Prince Abdulaziz bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Medina Region, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid visited the Prophet's mosque in Medina and performed prayers in the mosque.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid journeys to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia


Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, October 3, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, heir to the throne to the Kingdom of Morocco, started several-days state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia underlining on strengthening the cooperation between two kingdoms.

His Royal Highness arrived in Saudi’s Jeddah international airport tonight where he was received by Prince Mishaal bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah Province and senior protocol officials.

Melloussa-Tangier-Morocco, September 21, 2007 -- His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, heir to the Moroccan throne, on Friday continued to push for youth empowerment issues as he took part in the launching ceremony of recently opened rural social center for girls in Melloussa.

During a very cheering meeting with some of the young girls, His Royal Highness reiterated his hope for tomorrow's children, whether in urban or rural areas of the Kingdom, no longer deprived of the fundamental human rights, liberty and dignity to which every child is entitled.

Tangier-Morocco, September 21, 2007 -- In the framework of celebrating the holy month of Ramadan, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid chaired Friday lecture at Mohamad V mosque, in the northern city of Tangier.

Muslims around the world recognize Ramadan as the month in which the Qur'an was discovered. Ramadan is divided into three 10-day weeks. The 10-day segments are known as "Rahmah," which means mercy of God; "Maghfirah," or forgiveness of God; and "Najah," which means salvation.

During the meeting with Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of 'golf in DUBAI', His Royal Highness underlined the importance of cooperation among Arab countries and stressed the significance of cooperation of the Hassan II Golf Trophy with Emaar, one of the key partners of 'golf in DUBAI'.

Concerning the aims and means of such a partnership, His Royal Highness explained: "We welcome Emaar's initiative in our country. Their backing of the event is fitting for a company which has already established its credentials while investing in Morocco."

His Royal Highness went on to note: "Morocco has deep feelings of respect and regard for the people of the UAE. And I am confident that our association will provide a new impetus to the historic ties".

Throughout the past years, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid has worked on economic and social development projects, along with a number of projects he continues to improve the business infrastructure in favor of attracting investments and expansion of business enterprises.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid marks the Muslim holy month of Ramadan

Rabat-Morocco, September 17, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moualy Rachid oversaw the first religious lecture of the holy month of Ramadan in Royal Palace in Rabat.

The lecture was delivered by regular minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq themed "Great work in spirituality".

The lecture was also broadcasted live via the radio and TV.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid hosted the World championship of Universal Trench

Tangier-Morocco, September 15, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of Royal Moroccan Federation for Hunting Shotgun Shooting, hosted the World Championship of Universal Trench, which took place on August 29th to September 1st, 2007 in Tangier.

The 4-day championship organized under His Royal Highness direct authority and the Royal Moroccan Federation for Hunting Shotgun Shooting, grouped numerous international sportswomen and men, coming from Germany, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Great Britain, South Africa, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Maghreb countries and Middle East.

Under the high royal chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the World Championship of Universal Trench aims to improve communications and fraternal ties among worldwide sportswomen and men, with the commitment to the sustainable development and focus on continuing progress of a fully economic, sport and cultural environments that benefit all present and future inhabitants of the entire Tangier region.

His Royal Highness once again brought the world’s finest to Morocco to participate in this prestigious event and enjoy an historic and rich mixture of cultures, different playing styles and also an international flavour with a warm Moroccan welcome and great hospitality assured for all participating members.

The Universal Trench is also referred to as Five Trap. Five traps are installed in a trench in front of the shooting stands, all set at different angles, elevations and speeds, and upon the call of 'Pull' by the shooter any one of the five machines, selected at random, will be released. Horizontal angles can vary from 0 degrees to 45 degrees either side of the centre line and target distance is between 60 and 70 metres. Elevation can vary, as in other trap disciplines between 1.5 and 3.5 metres above ground level.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid celebrates start of Ramadan

Rabat - Morocco, September 14, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid joined thousands of worshippers at a mosque in Rabat for special prayers on the first day of Ramadan.
Moroccan state television reported that Ramadan had officially started on Friday in the Islamic Kingdom of Morocco.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, marks the time 1,400 years ago when Muslims believe the words of Islam's holy book, the Koran, were revealed to the Prophet Mohammed.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sundown abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations. The fast is broken at sundown each day with a feast called "iftaar."

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid is making the world a better place for children


Rabat – Morocco, September 12, 2007 – As a part of continuing advocacy of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid’s global initiative that provides empowerment of young people, the Prince recognizes the need to include young scouts in operation “Holidays for all”.

“Holidays for all”, the governmental sponsored program for children from unprivileged families, is initiative that provides youth with the opportunity to gain necessary skills to address contemporary issues and challenges facing the nations and to appreciate the cultural interaction.

Since the start of this project, His Royal Highness has became an active patron and strong supporter of this project, and has concerted his efforts to improve the lives of unprivileged children, their condition and status in accordance with international conventions on the rights of the child.

With this agenda, His Royal Highness took personal charge in the expansion of enrollment representative cohort of scouts from socially unprivileged environment. This year, it is estimated that 78% of the urban and 22% of the rural young population are recipients of the program. As a direct result of His Royal Highness' presence in the project some of 1400 recipients are girl-scouts.

Morocco's enormously popular Prince Moulay Rachid, who serves as the President of Moroccan National Federation of Scouting since 1997, explores channels of strengthening the fields of education and science, enhances youth empowerment initiatives and highlights investment opportunities to cross-cultural dialogue.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid confers with President of Congo-Brazzaville

Rabat-Morocco, September 9, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid on Sunday in Rabat received Congo-Brazzaville’s President Denis Sassou Nguesso and members of the accompanying delegation.

The royal prince was in great spirit and in political form during the course of the meeting with delegations from Congo-Brazzaville also known as Republic of the Congo.

The talks focused on interests of the two states in developing bilateral relations for the benefit of the higher interests of the African nation.

His Royal Highness expressed his keenness to improve relations between the two countries to achieve their common interests and interests of citizens and to enhance the action and efforts to unite the African stand.

The royal prince plays a key role in maintaining diplomatic relations as he networks with leaders from all over the world in his capacity as Heir to the throne of Morocco.
