HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid leads Morocco’s delegation to the Arab Summit



Qatar, April 1, 2009 - Morocco’s Heir His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid lead Morocco’s delegation to the Arab Summit at the Qatar’s capital Doha on Monday March 30, 2009.

In this context, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid focused in His participation on enhancing Morocco-Arab relations, pointing out to the Arab reconciliation and the importance of the Arab unity.

H.H. the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani welcomed Crown Prince Moulay Rachid and other Arab leaders saying "at a time that requires your opinion and your decision, at a time when the nation awaits the prudence of your reason and wisdom and hopes for reassurance that restores some faith during these circumstances that are fraught with turmoil and anxiety."

The issues that dominated the agenda were the reconciliation among Arab leaders after a turbulent period of conflicts and rivalry linked to the rising power of Iran, Palestinian unity and peace talks with Israel.

The Crown Prince Moulay Rachid together with other leaders at the Arab summit also reiterated support for an Arab peace initiative for a land-for-peace deal with Israel that sees the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Arab leaders participating in the 21st Arab summit concluded meeting noting: We, the Arab leaders meeting at the 21st Arab Summit in Doha, are committed to strengthen Arab solidarity and preserve Arab values, security of Arab countries and legitimate rights of Arab states to defend their national independence and resources.

The summit's opening session was also attended by Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, representatives of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Commission of the African Union (AU) and the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU).
