HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid ensures sustained viable role for sport tourism

Tangier, May 3, 2008 -- To continue to create a viable economic effects derived from sport tourism, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the President of Royal Moroccan Federation for Hunting Shotgun Shooting, has hosted the Africa Championship of Universal Trench in Tangier from May 1st to 3rd.

The African sport men and women competed in the Africa Championship of Universal Trench for the prize of 100,000.00 DH.

The main aims of His Royal Highness is to raise and enhance the status and credibility of universal trench, as well as actively build bridges between different nations.

His Royal Highness also seeks to promote and defend issues of development of sport tourism as a viable contributor to the economic well-being of local communities.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid baptizes Moroccan Classic 2008

El Jadida, May 1, 2008 -- Teaching understanding of importance of sport tourism through golf, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid delivered the sixth edition of Moroccan Classic Challenge Tour on the European Challenge Tour at the El Jadida Sofitel Golf Resort.

Initiated by the Hassan II Trophy Association, under direction of the Founder and President Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the Moroccan Classic 2008 will be held in from May 1st to 4th.
The Challenge Tour is a breeding ground for the next generation of European Tour players.

Scotland’s Greig Hutcheon, when he shot a seven under par 65, took the lead on day one of the Banque Populaire Moroccan Classic on the European Challenge Tour. Hutcheon, is also seeking his second Challenge Tour victory on Moroccan soil after his win in the Banque Commercial du Maroc in 2003.

Marrakech, April 27, 2008 -- Widely regarded as the most successful program in Morocco, nurtured by the leadership of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, kicked off the third year of the MEDA Films Development (MFD) seminar series, which are being held on April 27th – May 4th in Marrakech.

Crown Prince Moulay Rachid plays a significant role in reaching out to the global visibility and connectivity of Moroccan and regional professionals, emphasizing the need for new concepts in the education to meet demanding swift in the industry.

As a result, ten carefully selected film producer-scriptwriter teams participate in an eight-day programme, pitching and expanding on their projects in front of a panel of potential financers, TV broadcasters and industry acquisitions representatives.

The objective is to enable scriptwriter and producer teams to adopt a new approach to upstream conceiving, thinking and collaborating on feature-length films, aiming to promote synergies in the team, an essential element for the successful development of a film project.

As with the 2006 and 2007 programmes, the 2008 workshops will be conducted in French and English by tutors and international experts.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid concerned by devastating effects of rising food prices

Meknes, April 23, 2008 -- As Morocco opens its third International Agricultural Fair, the prices of range of agricultural commodities are on increase and countless of Moroccan families living on less than one dollar per day are burden between poverty and starvation.

In recent months, riots over soaring food prices have erupted in several Moroccan cities but police around the country were called out to put down any unrest.

“Police beat Mounir El-Ktaoui of the Arabic-language weekly Al Watan Al An, BBC stringer Mustapha Bekkali and Mohamed El-Hamraoui of the French-language weekly La Gazette du Maroc in the course of dispersing demonstrators protesting against food price increases outside the parliament building in Rabat on April 12th”, reported French-based organization Reporters Without Borders.

To alleviate the economic hardships citizens are going through, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid expressed needs for the government to take urgent action in order to avert a larger crisis, and improve and ensure access to food for all.

Marrakech, April 22, 2008 -- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid along with the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (abbreviated CIC) Members, held Tuesday ground breaking the 55th CIC General Assembly under the motto “Hunting: a Tool for Sustainable Rural Development” at the Congress Palace of Marrakech, Morocco.

The aspire of the congress is to underline hunting’s privileged position in socioeconomic, cultural and recreational terms, but also its real integration to the national development plans, which aim at improving population incomes and creating job opportunities.

Rabat, April 22, 2008 – Boosting a role of information technology (IT) in education and development of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid received Tuesday Microsoft CEO Mr. Steve Ballmer.

Collaboration between the Kingdom and Microsoft was at the center of discussions as His Royal Highness and Mr. Ballmer reviewed a number of developments with great prospects, which Microsoft plans to start in Morocco and region.

His Royal Highness and Mr. Ballmer also reviewed a number of interests, mainly Microsoft role to the growth of the educational sector with looking for solutions to the several emerging issues and challenges facing IT evolution in the region, including data protection.

Rabat, April 21, 2008 – To secure a better tomorrow for Moroccan impoverished children with the heart diseases, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid seeks to find solution with the Grand Heart Association by providing help to young patients who cannot afford health care costs.

The project of the Association aims to increase the availability of quality healthcare services and to integrate special needs children into mainstream society.

To date, under the leadership of His Royal Highness as an Honorary President of the Grand Heart Association, the Association has sent several children to France where they received comprehensive cardiovascular services, including life-saving heart surgery and interventional cardiology procedures.

Thanks to the sagacious directives of His Royal Highness, in December 2007, the thirteen years old Isham has a successful surgery at the La Timone hospital conducted by Dr. Kreitmann. After spending seven weeks in France to repair his heart, Isham joined his family in Morocco on January 7th, 2008.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid pledges brighter future for disadvantaged children


Rabat, April 19, 2008 – Under the Royal Presidency of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Motorsport Federation organized the 15th edition of the Maroc Classic Rally from March 16th to 22nd 2008 with adopted motto “The Road of Heart”.

Under the auspices of His Royal Highness, the generous sum of 280.000 DH, which was collected during the rally, was presented to the Happy time (Heure joyeuse) Foundation for disadvantaged children.

The donations are part of larger projects of His Royal Highness to improve living conditions of Moroccan children and youth.

To date, the Maroc Classic Rally has collected almost 4 million Dirhams since it has founded its auction to support the Happy time Foundation eight years ago.
