Rabat, September 28, 2008 – Regardless of His busy schedule, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid has paid on Sunday His final respects at the funeral mass for Dr. Abdul Karim al-Khatib.Sharing in the grief and pain, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid offered His prayers together with His heartfelt condolences to family and relatives of Dr. Al-Khatib.
At the funeral ceremony held in the Rabat cemetery, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid saluted the talent of Dr. Al-Khatib, his self-sacrificing patriotism, brave and courageous work for the country and for the sake of the people.
In an eloquent tribute, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid expressed that Morocco has lost one of the most outstanding leader of this generation who influenced a political vision toward the national independence movement and paved the way for inspirational Kingdom’s realization toward the national sovereignty.
After the ceremony, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid talked to and comforted the widow of late Dr. Al-Khatib and his family.
Giving the moral importance to this event, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid has cleared His demanding schedule on very short notice to come to Rabat and to pay His respects to finest politician.
Dr. Al-Khatib died on Saturday in Rabat at the age of 87 years. He was one of a number of signatories of the Independence Manifesto, founding President of Party of Justice and Development (PJD), also held several ministerial positions and was a co-founder of one Scouting division.
